NBA Twitter had like an involuntary reaction to the blockbuster deal that landed Russell Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers have been a vital part of the trade rumors and it wasn’t until recently that Washington Wizards’ Westbrook was added to the mix.

Imagine that the speculations started with LeBron James and Anthony Davis following Russell’s wife on Instagram and here we are. Given, there have been some mixed reactions to this trade. But Lakers fans are thrilled. It was NBA Insider, Shams Charania who came out with the big news.

He posted, “The Washington Wizards have agreed to trade Russell Westbrook, 2024 second-round pick, 2028 second-round pick to the Los Angeles Lakers for Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell and No. 22 tonight.”

The 2017 MVP had requested an out and his preferred destination was always the Lakers. Looks like he got exactly what he wanted. Here is what some of the NBA players think about this wild trade.

Does Russell Westbrook fit well with the Lakers?

Born in Long Beach, Russell Westbrook is a LA native. But his ties to the city aren’t the only reason for his hiring. Lakers have been linked to different point guards throughout July. And what’s better than nailing the man who was in his prime during the 2020-21 season with Washington. He stacked up triple-doubles, with 22.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 11.7 assists.

After the way the season ended for the Lakers, this has come as a ray of hope. An additional superstar will help take the offensive load off of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Fans have been begging the franchise to get rid of Kyle Kuzma, who proved to be a liability to them last season. And now that this has happened, there have still been doubts about this trio getting along because of terrible spacing. But the talent these three could bring to the floor is one to be scared of. If the Lakers don’t do better this time, they will bear the brunt of some harsh criticism.
