Jeff Van Gundy has worked with some eminent names in the industry, including Stephen A. Smith. In just a few short days, Van Gundy was inching closer to his 100-game mark after his coverage of the NBA finals between Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets.
However, ESPN broke his dreams with layoffs. They lay Van Gundy off on June 30th, with just a year remaining on his contract. The decisions come because of ESPN’s cost-cutting efforts.
ESPN is making significant cuts ‘in the area of public-facing commentator salaries’.
But Van Gundy isn’t the only one facing the traumatizing decision. Just a few hours later, they fired several other notable members of their team.

There is Pepe's, Sally's and modern 40 min away in new Haven or Pepe's in Farmington and they got none of them. ESPN should be ashamed of themselves.

As per reports, ESPN is thinking of hiring internally. Some names coming in who are candidates to fill the voids are Doris Burke, JJ Redick, and Richard Jefferson. Yet another possibility for replacing Van Gundy will be Doc Rivers, who is also the former coach of the Boston Celtics, Clippers, and 76ers.
