Charles Barkley is surely one of NBA’s most controversial personalities. The former MVP turned commentator and TV host has always had a knack for disputable arguments. When not cussing on live television the Alabama native can be found making controversial remarks regarding various entities.

Most recently, he called Kevin Durant a, “Bus rider rather than a Bus driver.” Charles is always on the offense – just like his playing days. From feuding with Shaq to triggering Stephen Curry‘s mom, Charles is quite the devil. While many appreciate his honesty, his recent confessions may make him look like a ‘hypocrite’.

During an appearance on the volume podcast in March of 2022 Charles went on to speak on how he wanted to be a positive influence. Speaking to the host he said, “I want to be the guy like, you know you’re wrong, you admit you are wrong, but I want to give you some grace.” This seems quite contrary to when he is the one dishing out criticism on live TV.

Continuing, Charles went on to say something more hypocritical, which must have perked the ears of many. Talking about whom he wouldn’t want to be, Charles stated, “I never want to be that a******, like you’re down, let me kick you while you’re down. Whether it is on Television or on Zoom.” Unbeknownst to himself, perhaps, Charles can be that person, especially when one considers his comments on Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson.

After KD’s Nets were eliminated in the first round by the Celtic last season Charles had harsh words for the former MVP. The comments came at a time when Durant was not at his finest and could have done with some moral support. In a similar fashion Sonya Curry had to stand up for Klay Thompson when Chuck made scathing remarks about the GSW guard. With him asking trash-talkers to, “Shut the fu** up and say something positive,” we could ask him to do the same.

Does Charles comments about positivity make him a hypocrite?

Charles Barkley has a razor-sharp tongue and if given an opportunity could cut you with his words. While it may be a way of showing tough love, there is a thin line between positive criticism and all out slander. With the comments he made to the host Reene, he surely wants to be a beacon of hope. But with a clear disconnect in his words and actions, it seems hard not to agree with branding him a hypocrite. What do you think about Charles Barkley?
