Giannis Antetokounmpo Shares a Record with Michael Jordan that Even LeBron James Would Never Achieve

The Milwaukee Bucks did the unthinkable when they came back from a 0-2 deficit to lift the NBA Championship 2021. Giannis Antetokounmpo, the epitome of humbleness and the specimen of human abilities, finally achieved what he long deserved. 

The Greek Freak had such a crazy series that it was a unanimous decision to name him the FMVP 2021. He scored multiple 40+ games in the NBA Finals and proved that he leads from the front and carries his team above the rest. As a sweet result, he now shares a record that only Michael Jordan previously held.

Back in 1988, Michael Jordan recorded his career high 3.2 average steals per game along with 1.6 blocks in 82 nights. That helped him become the DPOY for the very first time. After that, the legend went on to become 5x league MVP and 6x FMVP.

Now, Giannis Antetokounmpo, with his DPOY from 2020 and back-to-back MVPs, has become the only player after MJ to become an FMVP too.

In the NBA Finals 2021, Giannis averaged a whopping 35.1 points per game over a stretch of six games. He was a 2-way force that forced clouds over the Suns and kept them from shining. Considering The Freak is just a 26-YO, he can add multiple achievements to that glorious tally and further challenge Air Jordan’s records.

But on the other hand, LeBron, at 36-YO, with all sorts of records to his name, might never become a DPOY and hence no such record for him.

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 50 points, 14 rebs, 2 assists, and 5 blocks to contain the Phoenix offense. He was 16/25 from the field as opposed to Devin Booker & Chris Paul combining for 17/41. On top of that, his 17/19 free throws were better than the Phoenix Suns’ 16/19 FTs.

Plus, he even drained a three-pointer to further show how he was so locked in the game. On Tuesday night, he was going downhill on almost every possession, not letting the Suns trap him at any point.
