Popular NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the most beloved stars in the league. Not only is he one of the best players in the world, but the Greek Freak is also a huge philanthropist with multiple charity ventures under his belt. Recently, the Milwaukee Bucks superstar was in attendance with numerous other celebrities for the ‘Poverty Is No Joke’ event.

While fans around the world celebrated and congratulated the Greek Freak for his brilliant venture, some fans were quick to call out the hypocrisy. Not only Giannis but the other celebrities present at the event were also dragged into the debate.

The Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation (CAFF) recently hosted the ‘Poverty Is No Joke’ event. CAFF is a global social impact foundation created by the Antetokounmpo family.

It is named after Giannis’ father who left Nigeria to find better opportunities for his family. Needless to say, his efforts did not go in vain as the Antetokounmpo family produced the first trio of brothers who won the NBA title.

Giannis and Thanasis won the NBA title in 2021 with the Milwaukee Bucks. On the other hand, Kostas Antetokounpo won the NBA title in 2020 with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The lavish event was attended by Giannis Antetokounmpo, his family, Hasan Minhaj, and other noted celebrities. Tennis legend Serena Williams’ husband and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian also attended the event.

The star-studded event caught the attention of the NBA world. Some fans called out the stars out for wearing expensive suits and watches during an event organized for poverty.

Interestingly, some fans also brought up Kevin Durant. Antetokounmpo recently made some controversial comments about Durant which has the NBA fans excited for their next matchup.

Antetokounmpo made a huge donation after the All-Star game

The 2021 NBA champion made a huge donation to the After School Matters foundation after the 2020 All-Star game in Chicago. Although Antetokounmpo’s team lost, he made sure to donate to the foundation.

Along with other stars of Team Giannis, they had pooled $100K which went to the foundation. Joel Embiid, Jimmy Butler, and Pascal Siakam are just some of the stars who played for Team Giannis and contributed to the donation.
