It seems as time goes by, this off-season only keeps getting the fans out of their seats more. Major trade rumors and pair-ups are already surfacing with just the start of free agency. However, the recent news is spicier than ever, and it comes from Brooklyn. Notably, Kevin Durant has requested a trade and has his eyes set on another destination.
Stephen A Smith was harsh when KD joined the Golden State Warriors back in 2017. However, this time he feels the Slim Reaper is making the right decision. Moreover, he revealed some crazy news about Kyrie Irving.
Back in 2019, Durant and Irving made a blockbuster move to join the Brooklyn Nets and team up. With them being free agents, many teams had their hearts broken. However, the most distraught were probably New York Knicks fans. Heavy rumors came in about the duo choosing New York and them getting Zion Williamson with the number one pick.

However, the New York Knicks didn’t get either of their wishes fulfilled. And Stephen A Smith went on a rant. He cursed the duo of KD and Kyrie Irving, and it looks like it ran through.
In one of the most shocking outcomes, Kevin Durant is reportedly ready to walk out of the Brooklyn Nets only days after KAI opted in. And Smith believes Kyrie is the reason for it all. Moreover, the NBA expert believes it is only a matter of one year before Irving heads to join LeBron James once again at the Los Angeles Lakers.
Stephen A Smith weighs in on possible Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving break up
Stephen A. Smith is one of the leading analysts in the world of the NBA. The ESPN man isn’t afraid to speak his mind out as it is. And it was clear in 2017 when he grilled Durant and said joining the Warriors was one of the weakest moves. Now, the same situation is looming over. However, Smith believes the Slim Reaper tried it all. In addition, Smith even weighed in on Irving and said he will be out next season as well.

Smith said: “Kyrie Irving is telling everybody he plans on going to LA, meaning the Lakers as soon as he possibly can. The likelihood is that he will have to go through this season. Then when he becomes a free agent after this season is over, he plans on rejoining LeBron James in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform.”
The Nets couldn’t imagine a worse situation hitting them. They are about to lose arguably one of the best scorers in the history of the NBA. Moreover, they have no trust to give Irving a long-term deal. But there is also a chance to start fresh. KD is capable of fishing in many of the big names through a trade. The Nets have a defensive powerhouse in Ben Simmons, and a right move for KD could see them stay right where they are.
