The Los Angeles Clippers demolished the Los Angeles Lakers for the 10th straight time. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George brought the house down with efficient and effective two-way basketball. Despite a 46-point eruption by LeBron James, the Clippers walked off with a convincing 18-point win. Their commanding display raised a debate among the analysts on the Postgame Show. Notably, the question of just how dangerous the Clippers might be, came up. Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal believes the Los Angeles team might have a serious shot at competing for the title. However, he did propose a stipulation.

The Clippers have been on fire since Kawhi Leonard’s return. The Klaw is seemingly all healthy, and back to his most lethal. Over December, he has averaged over 26 points per game to go with nearly 2 steals according to ESPN. Moreover, PG13 has found a consistent form over the last few games. The duo combined for 52 against their instate rivals in the 133-115 run down.

Apart from their duo, the Clippers have an abundance of talent on their roster. Winning three straight games now, the Clippers have looked nothing short of amazing. They even got a former Laker, Shaquille O’Neal to admit they have the potential to be contenders for this season.

Shaquille O’Neal needs to see the Clippers play together

After watching his Lakers go down, Shaq was boiling. He was crumbling the papers in anger watching their instate rivals absolutely annihilate the iconic Purple and Gold. Marking their third straight win, the crew got into talks about their position as title contenders. Notably, the Clippers began this season without Leonard and still managed to stay within the playoff picture. With The former DPOY back, they have become a force with their roster depth. Likewise, Candace Parker was the first to address them as threats to any franchise this season.

While Shaq did hold the same opinion, he had one slight problem. The four-time champion believes they can turn this season into a run for the Larry O’Brien only if they Leonard and Co. continue to play together for 20 games straight. He said, “The question is can they have enough time to make a run? Which one of those guys doesn’t play back-to-backs? Is it Kawhi or PG?… If they can get around 20 games where all of them are together and they look like this, you’re right Candace they might be scary.”?

Both George and Leonard are known to do load management during the season. Moreover, with The Klaw just back from his injury, the Clippers organization might not be willing to take any chances. However, their chemistry seems to be on target almost every night. Even without the 2019 Finals MVP, the franchise managed to play great basketball. On the other hand, roster consistency will arguably play a huge part, especially in the postseason.

Both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George have held up their end of the bargain since coming in healthy. However, what makes this franchise truly unique is the depth they hold. Players such as Reggie Jackson, Ivica Zubac, Norman Powell, and John Wall have made immense contributions this season. It is their impact that elevates PG and The Klaw. Likewise, if they stay healthy throughout the remainder of the season, the Clippers have the ceiling to be a force no one would want to see.
