Michael Jordan?s Son Marcus Pens Down Sentimental Note for Mother Juanita Vanoy on Her Special Day With a Rare Photo

Before being the father to twins, Michael Jordan shared a long marriage with former model Juanita Vanoy. The pair met through a common friend, and from there began their romance. The two tied the knot in September 1989 and had three children. Today marks his ex-wife’s birthday, and Marcus Jordan made sure to celebrate her special evening.

Taking things to his Instagram story, the Trophy Room CEO pinned down a loving message for Vanoy along with a rare family picture for the fans to enjoy.

For the basketball world, Jordan and Vanoy’s marriage strikes a single thought – the lucrative divorce settlement. Parting ways after 17 years of marriage, the terms of the separation caused quite a whirlpool. The former American model received $168 million in settlement, one of the largest sums during the time. However, for her three children, she is just a loving, caring, and empathetic mother.

As she celebrates her 64th birthday, her younger son, Marcus Jordan wrote some words to mark the occasion. Sharing an Instagram story, he wrote, “Happy Birthday Mama. Love you”. Attached was a rare photo of the family celebrating one of Jordan and the Bulls’ six championship triumphs.

All of Jordan’s three children with Juanita Vanoy had to endure the fierce competitiveness of their father. The six-time champion wasn’t a father who would let them win easily. His on-court charisma would carry on into his battles at home with Marcus, Jeffrey, and Jasmine. From one-on-ones to even sudoku, Michael Jordan never lost his ‘killer’ instinct. But as kids, they needed someone to cool down the Chicago Bulls icon’s obsession with winning. That is when their mother would come in.

Appearing on NBC’s Today Show, Marcus Jordan once revealed how he would call his mother to complain about his father according to Republic World.

While their relationship amicably ended after 17 years, they made sure to instill valuable lessons into their children. Their father forged himself as a pop culture icon, but Michael Jordan and Juanita Vanoy taught their children to stand on their feet. Marcus Jordan and his siblings might have flown in a private jet, but he revealed in a TMZ interview how their mother taught them to be grounded.

While there was no focus on Vanoy in the ‘Last Dance’ docuseries, Jasmine Jordan revealed she ‘lived’ the story. Speaking to ESSENCE, she spoke about how the 64-year-old always stuck by Michael Jordan’s side during championships, retirements, and the highlight events of his illustrious career.
