Russell Westbrook is quickly becoming the topic of discussion for the Lakers. After one of his worst seasons, potential trades may be on the way. Notably, Michael Jordan and the Hornets have emerged as the favorites to acquire the former MVP. However, it seems the purple and gold may not entertain the Hornets’ offer.

The Hornets have one of the most exciting offenses in the NBA. However, despite that, they failed to get through the play in tournament for the second consecutive season. The lack of veterans caused their eventual demise for them. This has led to high demand for Brodie. And the Hornets are willing to put up a spicy offer with Hayward.

Lakers can’t have more injuries

Westbrook was not at his best all season long. However, the one major takeaway was his consistency. Russ played the most games for the Lakers among the Big 3. While he wasn’t the most productive, AD is an injury-prone star. Adding Gordon Hayward would only be more pain for the Lakers through the season.

Hayward could potentially become the answer to the Lakers’ problems. He has had an impressive campaign with the Hornets putting up 17.6 points while shooting 40% from three. However, the major takeaway comes with his history of injuries. Notably, he has played just 93 games in two seasons for the Hornets. He even missed the crucial play in encounter this season with an injury.

Looking at the story of this season, the Lakers won’t look to venture into this trade. While they had a bad roster this season, injuries played a big part as well. With key players such as LeBron James and Anthony Davis picking up injuries, the Lakers will look to add in a healthy star. And Hayward does not answer those prayers for the 17 time champions. Hence, a potential trade for Westbrook to the Hornets may be off the table.
