Being drafted to the NBA is a dream come true. Rookies who come in had worked extremely hard to play at such a level. Being drafted is a proud moment for the family as well. Though it would be unfair if one’s family does not support the player’s team.
There are times when a player’s family might have to choose either rooting for the home team or their kid’s. These moments are rare and hard to witness. But it was the case with Michael Jordan’s teammate during the first three-peat, BJ Armstrong.

The start of the 90s decade saw the dominance of the Bad Boy Pistons. The Bulls gave their all but couldn’t get past the tough roster. Bull’s guard, on the other hand, did not have his family support. BJ Armstrong’s family was a big-time Pistons fan. Armstrong respected the mentality of Detroit fans rooting for their basketball, football, and baseball team. Though he revealed something interesting.
“All those years Rex, that I played in Chicago, my family would root for the Pistons. You know my mom and dad would be like, ‘Well son I hope you play well, but you know what, you know I just love Isiah, I just love Joe Dumars.’ And I respected that.”,? said Armstrong.

BJ also told that his family would ask for tickets to the game to root against him. This is not the kind of support a player would expect from his family, though Armstrong understood where it came from. But this is not the only time a family had to root against their child.
