The Charlotte Hornets are an exciting young team, but they do not have a distinguished history. The franchise is still yet to win a Division title and they struggle to make the playoffs. Their fortunes have turned slightly since Michael Jordan took over as the owner, but not to that great of an extent.
Still, they are a good team with loads of young talent on their roster. Lamelo Ball is their point guard for the future and he is expected to be the face of the league in the future. Mikal Bridges and Terry Rozier are two exciting talents as well and they have improved every year. But they could have had another young superstar, but they missed on him in the draft.

Donovan Mitchell, the young all-star of the Utah Jazz, was selected 13th overall in the 2017 NBA Draft. But if things had worked out, he could have ended up on the Hornets. They had the 11th pick in the draft, but they choose to go with Malik Monk. Monk is a solid player but Mitchell has turned out to be an all-star.
Mitchell recalls how it went down. He said, “I kind of go back to a draft story, but I was supposed to go to Charlotte. I was supposed to be on the Hornets. Like at least that’s what I was informed in the morning. I thought I’m gonna be with Mike.”

Imagine a team with Lamelo Ball and Donovan Mitchell, two young superstars whose games could have mixed so well with each other. The vision and playmaking ability of Ball and Mitchell’s scoring ability could have made them unstoppable. They could have been one of the best duos in the league.

But the Hornets missed on another opportunity, but they have rebuilt the team well. However, this will be hurting them, as Mitchell is blossoming into a superstar in Utah. Jordan will definitely rue on missing out on this.
