The Charlotte Hornets fell out of the play-in tournament in a rather embarrassing fashion. The Atlanta Hawks were just way better on the day and they advanced to the next round of the play-in. Michael Jordan’s side fell short by 29 points. It was a weak display altogether, as the Hornets only managed a small lead whenever they did.
The mentality shown by the Hornets was questionable, to say the least. It was uncharacteristic from MJ?s side. One expects a franchise led by Michael Jordan to fight in a game like he used to do. The Hornets did not display that. As such, they lost 132-103. LaMelo Ball scored 26, which was the most for either side. However, it was not enough, as Trae Young?s Atlanta Hawks ran away with the victory.?

?Jordan suffered a blow out defeat as his side slid out of the tournament. There has been a lot of criticism on different fronts for their performance. Some of the criticism also has to go to Michael Jordan. He has been in control of the franchise for over 10 years now. During that time, the Hornets only qualified for the playoffs 3 times. In all three of those times, they could not pass even the first round of the playoffs. Skip Bayless, who claims MJ to be the GOAT, has dropped some questions on his ownership and leadership of the Charlotte Hornets.

Skip Bayless draws heavy criticism on Michael Jordan the owner/operator
Recently on Undisputed, Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe discussed the disappointing way in which the Charlotte Hornets crashed out of the play-in tournament. Skip Bayless has almost always claimed that Michael Jordan is the GOAT. However, this time he thinks he ?cannot defend? MJ.
3 playoff appearances in 16 years, and missed it again. I cannot defend Jordan the owner/operator. If your name was Michael Smith or Michael Jones, you would’ve been gone by now. More @Undisputed, now on FS1 https://t.co/5vHOmfVq4B

Funny thing about this is that nobody ever criticizes the owners of other small market teams. Most people don’t even know who those owners are…

Weird take. Very…very weird take. If owners can be "gone" like coaches for the failures of their team, then Dolan would be "gone" a very long time ago. Cut it out Skip.

?You will not find a bigger Michael Jordan fan,? said Skip, ?than this guy sitting right here [talking about himself] but I cannot tell a lie. This is just pathetic. Last night was pathetic. last night hurt my eyes.? He continued, ?I’ve said for years. I cannot defend Jordan the owner slash operator because he does not operate the franchise right.?

It is true it was not at all a performance to be proud of or even take home as something the team fought for. The Hornets have good young players and it seems like with the right circumstances, mentality and coach, they can surprise their opponents. Michael Jordan needs to channel his energy and mentality into his team and only then the side would look like MJ?s. Will MJ be able to do that next season? We’ll have to wait and see.
