In 2014, His Airness Michael Jordan and the Swiss Maestro Roger Federer came together for an epic collaboration. The two GOATs of their respective sports launched the NikeCourt Zoom Vapor RF x AJ3 that year. Federer had worn the shoes to the US Open 2014 at his match against Marinko Matosevic. Significantly, it was also the first time that Jordan will attend a tennis match.

One would think that the competitive Bulls legend wouldn’t be easily bothered by anything or anyone. Since he had once subjected Bill Clinton to trash talk during a game of golf.
But, Jordan was apparently “nervous” to watch the five-time straight US Open champion play on the court. Well, that is what the Hall of Famer said during a short discussion with Federer a day before the match.
Michael Jordan admitted that he was nervous for Roger Federer
During the brief exchange between Michael Jordan and Roger Federer, the duo talked about their collab before moving on to talking about Federer’s match the next day. Federer told Jordan that fans would be excited to see him at the match as it will be Jordan’s first time seeing a tennis match. In response, the six-time NBA champion revealed that he’s not worried about how Federer will look in their new shoes. However, he’s a little nervous whether his presence on the court would impact Roger’s peak performance. Because the shoes’ performance also depends on how Federer performs the first time wearing it.

“It’s more or less about the performance. At the end of the day, I want to see you at top-notch. I’m excited about tomorrow but I’m a little nervous too because I’ve never been at a tennis match and I don’t want to put any added pressure on you,” Jordan told Federer.
Federer replied that he felt watching was the hardest part. Since the audience didn’t have any control over the match, it only just added to the agitation. Federer assured Jordan that he would try everything he could and come through.
