6x NBA champion and Hall of Famer Michael Jordan, considered by many fans the greatest player of all time, was not known for humility or selflessness. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Jordan had a very brash and crude personality and he always talked smack regardless of which side he was on. Among his many petty interactions, the one that stands out is his hilarious exchange with a former teammate involving a Ferrari.

John Salley is a former teammate and long-time friend of Micahel Jordan. Salley recently appeared on the ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast hosted by Hall of Fame tight end and NFL legend Shanon Sharpe. In the episode, Salley and Sharpe talked about various topics ranging from the MVP discussions, the league’s future, MJ stories, etc. Meanwhile, in one of the segments, Salley harped back on an amusing exchange with Jordan regarding his Ferrari.

Michael Jordan didn’t let John Salley ride his Ferrari after a loss

While talking about his former teammate Michael Jordan, John Salley had plenty of stories about him from his days with the Bulls. One of them involved an Ferrari. So the story goes like this ,one time, Salley and the ‘Bad Boy’ Pistons were to play Jordan and the Bulls. Before the game, Jordan told Salley about his new Ferrari, to which Salley replied, “Cool, I can’t wait to see it.”

However, the Pistons defeated the Bulls in the game. Therefore, Jordan had a change of heart. The 6x NBA champion, after the game, drove fast in the Ferrari passing Salley. After the driveby, Salley asked Jordan what that was all about, and Jordan, in character, replied, “Man, I ain’t hanging out with you.” Jordan’s pettiness was on full display at that moment.?

The Bad Boy Pistons drafted Salley in the 1987 NBA draft. He played an instrumental role in their championship runs. However, ‘Mr. May’ became a journeyman after the Pistons’ dynasty ended. After his stint with the Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors, Salley made his way to Chicago in 1996. Salley’s stint with the Bulls that season reunited him with his long-time friend, Michael Jordan.

Salley was among the small group of opponents to whom Jordan took a liking. On numerous occasions, Salley has sung high praise of Jordan. Moreover, apart from being a teammate of legendary players, Salley also has an historic record of his own. He became the first ever player in NBA history to win three championships with three different teams in three different decades.?
