Michael Jordan was like a big brother to Kobe Bryant. Jordan has 6 rings, which are divided into two three-peats. Kobe was as determined to surpass this record as he wanted to be the best player he could be. Bryant came into the league when he was just 18. He always wanted to dominate on the floor and make everyone know he was the best player in that game.

Though when Jordan first saw Kobe, he wasn’t sure of his talents. Unsurprisingly, it was when they faced off in the 1997-98 season when Jordan realized Bryant was full of potential.

Kobe Bryant took Michael Jordan’s words seriously

In a game versus the Bulls, Bryant stepped up against Jordan. In one play, Jordan hit his signature fadeaway over Kobe, which had him curious. Kobe asked Michael about his fadeaway jump shot. Jordan gave him a great detailed answer and said, “If you need anything, just call”.?

Kobe did not take these words lightly. Bryant would call Jordan in the middle of the night asking very specific questions. Jordan helped him and gave him great advice in return, though he wasn’t sure why he was doing it. Jordan’s teachings definitely guided Kobe to now being part of the GOAT conversation.

Both were really good friends. And when Jordan lost Kobe, he lost his little brother. His teachings definitely helped Kobe in his basketball career and his life off the court. Bryant was always striving to be the best earlier wanted to retire after winning 7 championships. This was to surpass Jordan.
