Whether Michael Jordan is the basketball GOAT or not is up for debate. However, one cannot simply disregard his talent of making millions during his playing days and beyond.
His Airness is currently a billionaire and his brilliant business mindset has played a huge role in it. Interestingly, when MJ visited North Carolina, his hometown, he had a hilarious interaction with a driver.
The driver of Jordan’s cab graduated from the University of North Carolina which happens to be Jordan’s alma mater too. Moreover, the driver graduated in the same field as Jordan, Geography.
He recounted that a professor once talked about the average starting salary for a Geography graduate from UNC. And it was surprisingly quite high. However, the professor did not mention that he included Jordan’s salary while counting the average.
The driver said, “He got us all fired up for map ID. He told us the average starting salary for UNC grads in geography was $250,000. Later we figured out he was including yours.”

A freshman Michael Jordan hit the game-winning shot with 15 seconds remaining. This iconic shot solidified his status as a UNC legend and helped them beat Georgetown 63-62.
