Last year, one of the highly celebrated sports documentaries of the world, ‘Last Dance’ set the stage. While the documentary upheld the legacy of the great Michael Jordan, few controversies and upsets headlined after its popular release.

The Last Dance, a 10-episode Netflix docu-series, came as a hush of relief for NBA fans amidst the saddening pandemic. It extensively covered Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls’ journey to six legendary championships. From the Bulls roster to the famous rivals of the Bulls dynasty, every detail was covered as part of Last Dance.

However, one member who felt blatantly ignored in the process of this is Jordan’s former teammate Luc Longley. Being the starting center for the Bulls’ second three-peat, Luc was a significant contributor to Jordan and co. era. He had become the first Australian player in the history of the NBA to win a championship. Nevertheless, no mention of his role amongst the bigwigs came to light.

Michael Jordan appreciates Luc Longley’s role in the Bulls’ dominance

After watching the Last Dance series, Longley expressed his disappointment. In response to this upset, Michael Jordan also felt a sense of regret for leaving out Luc from the documentary.

Despite the grimness, MJ chooses to show love for Luc Longley and his contributions to Chicago. According to ABC News, Jordan said – “He had the skill set, you know. He could shoot, he was very smart, good passer. He knew how to position himself well.”

Luc Longley, who landed in Chicago after Minnesota Timberwolves, was a true team player with the likes of MJ-Pippen. He proved to be a silent worker, yet valuable addition to the already famous roster.

Controversies poured in after Last Dance release

While this incident became one of the regrets in MJ’s books, Luc Longley acquired the respect quite later to Last Dance.  Many former players and fans as well have questioned the omission of Jordan’s teammate. However, the Australian player has been humble about it.

Last Dance stirred multiple debates and discussions over behind-the-scene footage of the Bulls dynasty.  From Isiah Thomas’ comments to Michael Jordan’s unstoppable candidness, the documentary brought out a plethora of angles to the smooth-surfaced Chicago Bulls legacy.
