The Charlotte Hornets faced a crushing defeat against the Atlanta Hawks in their play-in matchup. The 29 point loss saw their 2022 NBA season come to an end. But it seems like they already have their next moves planned out. To everyone’s surprise, it looks like Michael Jordan may really look to acquire Russell Westbrook from the Los Angeles Lakers next season.
Unsurprisingly, the picture with the Westbrook trade became pretty clear for the Lakers this season. It did not work out in their favor and it is likely they would look to trade for Brodie before next season. While his performances may not have attracted many teams towards him, it seems LeBron’s GOAT rival Michael Jordan has a particular liking for the former MVP. Notably, a couple of years ago Jordan even said Russ reminds him of his younger self.

Michael Jordan has eyes set on Russell Westbrook
According to Marc Stein, the Charlotte Hornets may make a strong push for a potential Russell Westbrook trade. The report suggests the Hornets will look to swap Gordon Hayward for the former scoring champion to come into Charlotte. This could very much become possible as both parties get what they want in this trade.

While Charlotte clearly needs the veteran experience on their side, the Lakers could receive great help in scoring and defense with Hayward’s entry. So if Brodie does make his move, how will it fit in with the young Hornets’ side?
Charlotte’s loss to the Hawks made their need for experience clear as day. They were flustered for the second consecutive year in a row. And Westbrook could help in enhancing the young talent they have. While Brodie’s season wasn’t one to remember, he showed out towards the end. Averaging nearly 23 points on 52% shooting in his last 10 games, he was the sole consistent star for the purple and gold. However, his pace never matched with the Lakers.

When it comes to Michael Jordan’s Hornets, the story is different. With a young roster, their offense is fast-paced, which would suit Brodie perfectly. While there may be a few things to figure out about his exact role, it could be a much more favorable situation for him compared to the Lakers. With LaMelo developing, having a point guard like Russ and IT with him could help him reach his full potential in a much shorter time as well.
