The legendary Michael Jordan won 6 NBA championships over the course of his career. He dominated the 90s decade and clinched a couple of three-peats to mark his name in history.

The winning team’s staff and players receive championship rings after they’ve won the title, and it is staggering to know that MJ has 6 glittering rings! So how much are they worth?

Each NBA championship is crafted to perfection with a unique design, depending on the team that wins it in a particular year. The cost of a ring depends on the work that goes into it; for instance, a top edition of the Toronto Raptors’ 2019 championship ring is embedded with 640 precious stones, and it is valued at $100,000

Here’s the value of the 6 championship rings from the Michael Jordan era

Championship rings are a part of the culture since the first-ever NBA Finals in 1947. The value of the rings have always remained priceless for the ones who receive it, as it is a commemorative gift for all those who worked towards winning the championship.

It is quite astounding that Michael Jordan won 6 such rings. He reigned as the league’s best player for several years as the Chicago Bulls won half a dozen championships in 8 seasons!

Now the thing about a championship ring is that it would’ve cost anywhere around $15,000 to $150,000 to get made, but its resale value is always higher, mostly depending on the person who owned it.

Back in 2020, all 6 of the Chicago Bulls’ championships were sold at an auction for a combined price of $255,840. The rings belonged to long-time Bulls security guard John Capps, who worked with the organization for 52 years.

The rings were posthumously put up for auction after Capps’ death in 2018, and each championship ring fetched a different price, with the 1997 and 1998 rings selling for $40,000 each.

So what are MJ’s rings worth?

Each ring that was given out to a member of the Bulls organization will fetch a different price in the market. If the authentic rings owned by Michael Jordan ever go up for auction, it would attract tons of buyers and the bidding would be insane.

One of the closest, if not accurate, examples would be the price that Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s rings sold for. The Hall of Famer put 4 of his 6 championship rings on auction for charity, and they sold for incredible prices.

Here’s ESPN’s report on the same, “Abdul-Jabbar’s 1987 ring sold for the most, at $398,937.50, followed by his ring from 1985 ($343,700). His 1980 and 1988 rings went for $245,500 each.”

Every year’s championship ring is unique. The rings contain diamonds along with precious stones, but the finger that it belonged to certainly adds more value to the rings.

There is no solid price for MJ’s 6 rings, but one can always make a rough estimate. A lot of memorabilia collectors would easily be willing to shell out a minimum of $500,000 to possess one of Jordan’s rings, and the whole lot will undoubtedly sell for millions of dollars.
