Since winning the championship in 2020, the Los Angeles Lakers have struggled for the last two years. The addition of the All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook last year turned out to be a massive failure. The team failed to make the playoffs last season and suffered league-wide humiliation. The Lakers didn’t make any significant off-season moves to address their issues this off-season either. However, the veteran guard from Charlotte might believe in a solution that can fix all the problems in LA.

Veteran Guard seemingly gets behind a trade involving Russell Westbrook and the Hornets
The unabating trade rumors of Russell Westbrook have amplified the on-court drama for the Lakers. Fans on social media have proposed numerous scenarios and trades around the league involving complex transactions to ship Russ out of town.
A fan proposed one such trade on Twitter that involved Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets. The hypothetical trade involved veteran guard Gordon Hayward, PJ Washington, and Kelly Oubre Jr. It should be a simple exchange of Westbrook for the above three players, along with some draft picks in the mix.

The reasoning behind the proposed trade aims at fixing the wing and depth of the Lakers. According to the fan, the Lakers suffer at the wing and don’t have many quality players on their roster. Thus the trade for the above three players will provide the much-required depth for the team and the three-pointing shooting at the wings. All three players shot above 33% from behind the arc last season. The veteran guard Gordan Hayward liked this proposed trade on Twitter, indicating his desire to play in LA.

This actually makes sense because he would just be like Mike Miller type player spot up shooter stretch the floor, occasionally make a nice play at the rim, decent passer, defense has always been suspect but this would be a nice add.

Other than the roster construction and financial aspects, the Hornets were among the favorites this off-season to land Westbrook. Many believed this because of the connection between Westbrook and the Jordan brand.
The struggles of the Los Angeles Lakers
The arrival of LeBron James and Anthony Davis made the Los Angeles Lakers title contenders overnight. The duo brought a championship to the city. But since that dream run in 2020, the Lakers have failed miserably.

The Lakers adding Russell Westbrook to their roster last season didn’t result in winning basketball. Many fans blamed Brodie for the failure of the Lakers, and millions took to Social Media to demand his departure from LA. But the Lakers failed to find any takers of his bloated contract; thus, Westbrook remains a Laker until further developments.
