The re-election fundraiser was named the ‘Obama Classic’. The event featured NBA stars like Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Kyrie Irving, and Paul Pierce among others for a ‘shoot around’. Moreover, Obama was also expected to join the NBA stars during the hopping contest. The fundraiser had some other activities, including a skills camp, costing $5000 for two tickets, and an autograph session with players for $250.

However, the main event of the 2012 re-election fundraiser was a head dinner at the Time Warner Center. Michael Jordan hosted the lavish dinner that cost $20,000 per person. The event expected roughly 120 people at the dinner, raising an overall $3 million from the ‘Obama Classic.”

Obama thanked Michael Jordan for his support

Barack Obama’s fundraiser speech centered on the fierceness and competitiveness of Michael Jordan. He targeted his opponents using a basketball analogy. Obama said that the other side was coming strong and playing a ‘little dirty’.

Further, Obama added, “I’d say there’s about seven minutes to go in the game. And Michael’s competitiveness is legendary. And nobody knows it better than Michael that if you’ve got a little bit of a lead and there’s about seven minutes to go, that’s when you put them away.”

Meanwhile, the former US President seemed to have a great time around Jordan. He also joked about being the fifth or sixth most interesting person at the event. Fortunately, the event turned out to be great for Barack Obama, as he got elected for his second term in November 2012.
