Dennis Rodman is an NBA legend and was undoubtedly one of the most recognizable faces in the league back in the 90s. He was already pretty well known before coming into the Chicago Bulls side, winning two championships prior to that with the Detroit Pistons. The five-time NBA champion had a different life than most NBA superstars, and he took pride in it. The ‘Rebound King’ continued to cement his popularity despite coming from a team that had Michael Jordan on its roster. Not an ordinary feat by any standards.?

Dennis Rodman opened up in 2019 on how Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and himself were treated by the people of Chicago and expanded on how loved they all were.

The five-time NBA champion always had high praise for both Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, as he could see how revered they were in the city of Chicago. The Bulls no. 91 wasn?t a part of the first three-peat era of the Chicago Bulls.?

The NBA legend mentioned how no. 23 and no. 33 were revered in the city of Chicago.?

In Chicago, Michael is a God and Scottie Pippen’s Jesus. I should’ve been Moses,”?Rodman jokingly said. He added that it was okay that he wasn?t Moses and nicknamed ?Rod-Man?, as he quite liked it. And mentioned how the nickname came from a place of acknowledgment of his hard work put into the team.

The seven-time NBA rebounding champion came to the team in 1995 and observed the legends closely. I looked at him [Michael Jordan] and Scottie Pippen and once I got on the team and watched them, their dedication, their hard work, everyday. These guys were on, on, on because they want to win. They guarded each other every day at the practice.??

Rodman compared the mentality of the Bulls legends to the players back at Detroit Pistons, Joe Dumars, Isiah Thomas, Bill Laimbeer along with others. According to the two-time NBA All-Star, this made him comfortable in the team and helped him grow.?

Michael Jordan and co. had set a standard for the basketball that the city of Chicago played and Dennis Rodman lived up to it.?

Rodman felt pressurized during his playing career

The two-time Defensive Player of the Year faced a lot of flak for his ‘antics’ off the court. Rodman even said he felt pressurized with that kind of criticism coming from different sections of society for the way he wanted to live his life, being labeled as a ‘bad boy’.

Despite all his off-court controversies, Rodman never let it come in between his game, as he went on to have a stellar career with the Bulls, averaging 15.2 RPG. Additionally, he has a championship ring to show off for each year that he played at the Bulls.?
