Popularly known as His Airness, former Chicago Bulls player Michael Jordan once received a piece of advice for an alternative career. MJ revealed that his high school principal told him that he should attend the Air Force Academy. Apparently, MJ’s principal did not believe that MJ would be able to get a job for himself after college. And could he get any more wrong?

MJ’s extraordinary ability to leap higher than most players to perform the amazing slam dunks earned him the nicknames ‘His Airness’ and ‘Air Jordan’. From the time Jordan entered the league, he went on to smash each one of his opponents on the court.

He had become a household by the time he had completed his first season in the league. He led the Chicago Bulls to six championships during his basketball career. The Detroit Pistons actually had to come up with a new set of rules specifically meant to hold of His Airness in the court. The Pistons called it the ‘Jordan Rules’. When your opponents have to come up with certain rules only to defeat you, then you are already one of the best players in the league.

However, what would have happened if Jordan had instead taken his high school principal’s advice and joined the Bulls instead? Would the Bulls have won all those championship titles without Jordan?

Michael Jordan receives compliments from US Force official

In a short documentary on Michael Jordan, he revealed what motivated him to be the best of all. Jordan’s former teammate from UNC, James Worthy said that MJ hated to lose. From proving himself in court to excelling in everyday chores, Jordan liked to be the first one to accomplish it all. During his college days, he would always be the first to shower and get dressed.

“I think it came from the doubter early on in my life and my determination to prove them wrong. Starting from my high school coach that cut me to my principal who said that I should go to Air Force Academy to guarantee myself a job at that finish college,” said Jordan.

NBA fans are undoubtedly glad that His Airness decided not to choose a different career. People would have missed witnessing the incredible legacy MJ has created. Furthermore, had he chosen to do another career, Jordan might not have achieved the level of stardom he now has. Additionally, he also wouldn’t have received a compliment from a US Air Force official.
