Spike Lee chooses MJ over LeBron
In an interview in 2019, Spike Lee had shared his thoughts on why MJ was his choice as the Greatest of All-Time over LeBron.
Spike began by mentioning that there is only one GOAT in response to the reporter questioning him about the stability of his relationship with Jordan.
“There is only one GOAT. One! Uno! Uno! Only one,” exclaimed Spike Lee in support of MJ.
Thereafter, when the reporter questioned him on his opinion regarding LeBron’s performances over the previous decade, Lee had the following to say.

“I got love for LeBron. But there’s only one GOAT. I’m being respectful. And also, on record, Mike has never said he’s the greatest,” he explained in reference to LeBron’s claim as the GOAT.
Furthermore, when a fan in the crowd claimed that LeBron was the GOAT, Spike Lee explained that despite LeBron making 10 trips to the finals, MJ never lost a finals matchup and won 6 rings.
LeBron vs MJ – the Stats
Despite Spike Lee and many others claiming that MJ is the GOAT, there are several others who take the side of LeBron James in the debate. One reason for this is LeBron’s all-round play. While MJ was a scoring machine, LeBron contributed not just in terms of points, but also through rebounds and assists. Furthermore, LeBron is currently 3rd in the all-time scoring list, 2 positions higher than MJ.

On the flip side, MJ has 6 titles as opposed to LeBron’s 4. Add to this, the fact that Jordan has never lost a series whenever he has reached the finals. Moreover, ‘His Airness’ is the only player in NBA history to win Defensive Player of the Year while averaging at least 30 points per game. Talk about contributions on both ends of the floor!
Regardless of the debate, it is important to give props to greatness when it arrives on an international stage, such as the NBA. Both LeBron and MJ have battled it out against some of the best squads in NBA history.
