The rivalry between the Chicago Bulls and the Detroit Pistons is a well-known fable in the NBA world. The Pistons were the only team in the league at the time to give a tough time to the alleged GOAT Michael Jordan. Recently one of the Detroit legends from the ’80s and ’90s gave his take on what would have happened if Jordan and him would have joined hands.

During the late 1980s, the Chicago Bulls faced multiple playoff defeats against the Detroit Pistons and never managed to win a playoff series against them. It can be argued that the Pistons were Jordan’s primary rivals during that period three decades back. Isiah Thomas, the point guard for Detroit, recently discussed the hypothetical scenario of him and MJ teaming up, speculating on the potential outcome.

Isiah Thomas, widely regarded as one of the greatest point guards in NBA history, notably guided the Detroit Pistons to secure two NBA championships. During a conversation, he responded to a hypothetical question posed by a panelist, and his unexpected answer is likely to catch many off guard.

When asked about the number of titles he and Michael Jordan would have won had they played together, Isiah Thomas promptly responded, “Probably eight. Eight or nine definitely.” Thomas confidently stated that the duo would have achieved nearly ten championships combined, taking into account Jordan’s six titles and his own two. The prospect of witnessing the pair as teammates certainly adds an intriguing element to the scenario.

It is widely acknowledged that Michael Jordan and his rival Isiah Thomas did not share a favorable relationship. Despite their intense on-court battles, it is heartening to observe that Thomas holds a significant amount of respect for MJ.

Isiah Thomas calls out MJ yet again

In a recent podcast appearance, Isiah Thomas once again addressed the ongoing feud with Michael Jordan, indicating that he does not want it to fade away. Thomas referenced a specific incident, stating, “You got on national television and you call me ‘a**hole’ and then you said you hated me. You said that on national television. Now if you didn?t mean it, get on national television and say that, and apologize for it. Now if you meant it, let it ride as it is.”

Thomas is seeking a public apology from MJ, but given Michael Jordan’s well-known strong ego, it appears unlikely that he would be willing to apologize to his former rival!
