The appeal of owning a piece of your hero’s legacy has fueled the meteoric rise of the Memorabilia/Collectibles industry over the years. Incidentally, an industry leader, Christie’s Auctions, will hold an online auction dubbed The Greats?for memorabilia worn by some of the biggest names in sports, including Michael Jordan and Serena Williams.?

The auction will include a host of collectibles worn by other iconic athletes like Kobe Bryant and more. However, the biggest draw of the auction happens to be the game-worn memorabilia of two of the greatest athletes of their respective sports; Michael Jordan and Serena Williams. Consequently, the starting bids for these exclusive collectibles start at thousands of dollars.

Signed game-worn shoes of Michael Jordan and Serena Williams go up for auction

The biggest draw of the auction is the Michael Jordan memorabilia. Michael Jordan’s Game-Worn Original 1985 Air Jordan 1 Chicago Sneakers are expected to fetch anywhere between $200,000 and $300,000 in the auction. Moreover, a pair of Dual Signed Original 1985 Air Jordan 1 Chicago Sneakers is estimated to fetch between $100,000 to $150,000.

The hefty figures come as no surprise for the Chicago Bulls legend. In past auctions, the 6x NBA champion and Hall of Famer has received a similar response. Fans have reportedly splurged over $12 Million in Jordan memorabilia over the years.

Also leading the sale are two pairs of sneakers made exclusively for Serena Williams. They are the Exclusive Game-Worn Dual Signed and the standard Off-White Nike Court Flare 2 Sneakers. The two are estimated to fetch anywhere between $10,000 to $15,000 and $17,000 to $20,000 respectively. Moreover, a signed tennis ball will also be up for grabs. Williams’ legendary status, especially after recent retirement, justifies the staggering estimates.

Other notable attractions

The auction has also something in store for hockey fans. The one-of-a-kind skates worn by the legendary goalkeeper Henrik Lundqvist will be up for sale for fans. Incidentally, Lundqvist wore these skates during his final game as a New York Ranger. Likewise, the exclusive pair is estimated to fetch around $50,000 to $70,000. However, the sale proceeds will be donated to the Henrik Lundqvist Foundation, dedicated to providing education for needy children.
