Michael Jordan is a versatile individual. His versatility along with his stardom enabled him to star in movies and commercials. In 1996, Jordan was the lead actor in the famous live-action and animation movie, Space Jam. Bugs Bunny, the character from Looney Tunes was his co-star. With this in mind, Jordan once spoke about his experience working with this Warner Bros icon. Jordan’s answer reminded everyone of his hilarious side.

During an interview in 1997 with PlayBoy magazine, Jordan gave the world an insight into his life. He spoke about his professional and personal life experiences. The Chicago Bulls legend also gave people an opportunity to understand his thought processes. While doing so, he answered questions about working on the Space Jam movie set with Bugs Bunny and co.
Bugs Bunny was too busy for Michael Jordan
The common belief was that Bugs Bunny, the cartoon character, was tough to work with. Naturally, Michael Jordan was asked about the same. Jordan was asked if Bugs Bunny paid him the common courtesy of “showing up to read his (Bugs) lines when he’s off camera”.
Jordan simply stated that Bugs Bunny never showed up off-camera. However, he claimed that Bugs always sent his body double. Supposedly, this made MJ’s job of being a good actor a little tougher. Despite this, he didn’t hold a grudge against his co-star. While bringing out his funny side, Jordan said, “You can do that when you’ve been a star for 60 or 70 years.”
Bugs Bunny is an icon. However, he is a cartoon character. Hence this exchange was hilarious for many.

Towards the 1980s and early 1990s, the fandom around Bugs Bunny had reduced. However, the character made a huge comeback when Bugs was featured in a commercial with six-time NBA Champion Michael Jordan. The commercial was shot for Nike and Jordan’s line. The commercial ended with Bugs Bunny saying, “This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship!”
This was surely true. The success of this commercial led to a Super Bowl ad featuring the duo. Following this, Jordan, Warner Bros, and Bugs Bunny united for several commercials. Jordan even named his Air Jordan 8 silhouette after Bugs Bunny. Eventually, the duo starred in the movie, Space Jam.
