The Golden State Warriors did a phenomenal job protecting their home court in Game 2 after losing the first game to the Los Angeles Lakers. What seemed to be an obstacle in the way, turned out to be a blessing in disguise for the Bayside team after they received daunting news regarding their 27-year-old star. Here?s what Draymond Green had to say about the hiccup before the game.

The Golden State Warriors absolutely dismantled the LeBron James-led Lakers, winning the game by a huge 27-point margin. But one small change that could?ve turned out to be a disaster helped the Warriors find a new weapon in their arsenal.

Draymond Green gives context to the Warriors’ pre-game hiccup

Draymond Green recently spoke about their Game 2 win over the Lakers in his most recent podcast episode. He started off by giving a huge shout-out to his teammate Jamychal Green, who replaced Kevin Looney in the starting lineup in their second game.

However, JaMychal Green replaced Kevon Looney because the latter was not feeling well. And as a result, he only played limited minutes while coming off the bench.

In the podcast, Green said, ?You walk in the gym and you see Kevon Looney.? Green gestured a run-down Looney right after that. He continued narrating the interaction saying, ?Me and Steph looked at each other like, yo. Whoa no.?

?We need Loon. So to find that out, literally, when we?re at the gym preparing for the game. It throws a wrench into things. We had a conversation with the coach. Coach asked me and Steph what do we think as far as who was starting.?

 

And both Green and Curry chose to go with the 6?8 forward, JaMychal Green.

The last-minute decision made by Stephen Curry and Draymond Green really worked in their favor. Not only did JaMychal Green help slow down Lakers big man Anthony Davis, but he was a huge part of the offense as well.

Even Lakers legend Magic Johnson went to his social media to call him the Warriors? unsung hero. Green shot 66.7% from the field, shooting 3-6 from beyond the arc.

He ended the night with 15 points, helping Curry rack up those 12 assists as well. So, it won?t be a surprise for head coach Steve Kerr to lean in the same direction for Game 3 as well.
