The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky recently made a historic visit to Washington. Ukraine has been at war with Russia for more than 300 days now. During his speech, Zelensky requested more help to fight Russia. The President of Ukraine making the potentially risky trip to the U.S. and the equally risky return trip home surprised many. However, many believe President Joe Biden would not have invited Zelensky without reason. However, not everyone is convinced about Zelensky’s visit to the country.

Specifically, Tomi Lahren, an American conservative political commentator. Lahren implied Zelensky is using the U.S. for his own gain just like WNBA star Brittney Griner.

The Russian government recently released Brittney Griner in exchange for arms dealer Viktor Bout. She spent more than ten months in a Russian prison enduring brutal conditions. Her release was celebrated by many fans and celebrities. However, many were unhappy with the release of a dangerous arms dealer like Bout. They fear the ‘Merchant of Death’ could harm the country again. Many felt that giving up an arms dealer for a basketball player just because she was famous was not a fair deal. Apparently, Tomi Lahren thinks Griner used the U.S. government for her “gain” and called out Volodymyr Zelensky.

Lahren took to Twitter and wrote, “I wonder if Zelenskyy will be doing any magazine cover shoots while he?s in the US? Maybe he can pose with Brittney Griner since they both know how to work over Americans for their own gain. Just a thought.”

Lahren also took a swipe at Zelensky for his Vogue photoshoot with his wife Olena Zelenska. The President of Ukraine’s Vogue photoshoot with the First Lady of Ukraine in July amidst the war with Russia received a lot of backlash. And Lahren made sure she reminded everyone about it.

The initial reports of a prisoner swap deal between the two countries for Brittney Griner came out a few months ago. The reports suggested Viktor Bout could be released in exchange for Griner. Tomi Lahren slammed the idea immediately via Twitter. Then, when the prisoner swap deal finally happened and the 2014 WNBA champion was released, Lahren gave her verdict.
