The hip-hop world has been struck with tragedy once again. After the death of Takeoff, one-third of the rap group Migos, the hip-hop community loses another legend. Rapper Hurricane G just passed away and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal made sure to pay his respects to the female rapper. And not just O’Neal but a lot of other known names from the hip-hop community grieved her death.

Hurricane G is the stage name for Gloria Rodriguez who was one of the first female rappers of Puerto Rican descent. She rapped in English and Spanish for over a span of 25 years. She was the first woman to be part of the famous music group ‘Hit Squad.’

Shaquille O’Neal gives a shoutout

Gloria Rodriguez was born in Brooklyn, New York, and gained fame in 1997 with her hit single ‘Somebody Else.’ Many notable names from the hip-hop community shared their condolences on social media.

Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal was one of the condolers. He uploaded a story on his Instagram account of Hurricane G rapping. The video was originally posted by former professional boxer Shannon Briggs on his Instagram account.

 

Record producer Diamond D commented on Erick Sermon’s post, “May she rest in peace.” DJ Premier also commented, “Iconic EMCEES of our time. We Love You Gloria!!!”

Rapper Erick Sermon, who shares a daughter with Hurricane G also shared a post of the East Coast rapper. He captioned the post, “My heart is hardened today. One of my good friends…. my oldest daughters mother passed away today #HURRICANEGLORIA was also a legend in her own right in the Hiphop community.”

Sermon’s caption ended with “She was a beautiful person a wonderful mother as real as they come. We love u G.” Sermon mourned the loss of the hip-hop legend.

The hip-hop community loses another member

Domingo Padilla who produced ‘All Woman,’ which was the album she debuted with in 1997 also shared a message on his Instagram account. He posted a picture of her album’s cover with a caption that said, “R.I.P to my good friend Hurricane G Really sad news to get.”

Domingo also uploaded another post about the late rapper where he shared a couple of incidents about Hurricane G while with her. The hip-hop community mourns the passing of another legend.
