Steph Curry is widely regarded as the greatest shooter of all-time. Proving his shooting caliber yet again, the former unanimous MVP put up 57 points against the Dallas Mavericks. This was the second-highest tally of his career, with his massive 62 points against the Portland Trail Blazers being the highest.

However, it wasn’t enough to get the W for the Golden State Warriors.

Rick Carlisle gives props to Steph Curry

After the game, Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle spoke to the press. He praised Steph Curry’s game and said that he is one of the hardest players to guard in the NBA.

“I don’t know if there’s a harder guy to play in basketball right now than Steph Curry because of all the different ways he affects the game and just his uncanny ability to make shots from anywhere on the floor.”

Steph Curry has been absolutely fantastic this season. Despite not having his backcourt partner Klay Thompson so far, Curry has been playing at an MVP level.

For the season, Curry is averaging 28 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds. Unfortunately, Curry’s solid numbers haven’t translated into victories for the Warriors, who have had an inconsistent season so far with a 12-11 record.

Steph Curry is currently on track to be an All-Star starter this season after missing out on the game last year. Curry spent much of the 2019-20 season on the sidelines due to an arm injury.

As a result, the Warriors missed the playoffs and ended the season with the worst record in the NBA. This allowed them to have extended rest and bring James Wiseman with the second pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

This year, Curry’s numbers have been similar to his 2015-16 unanimous MVP season. Curry is the only player in history to be named the unanimous league MVP, receiving votes from all journalists and players for the same.

But his numbers have not been as significant to the Warriors’ record this year as they were then.

Can Steph Curry lead the Warriors to a playoff position? They are currently playing in a much more competitive Western Conference, with teams like the Lakers and the Clippers looking far more dominant than years past.

But if Curry can bolster the team’s performances, they can realistically reach the playoffs as a secured seed.
