Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant was the most recent name who had shown interest in being part of the ownership group. Some other names like Jeff Bezos and Jay-Z were already in the mix.
Another big name in the mix
And now the latest person to be linked in being part of the new ownership is actor Matthew McConaughey. McConaughey, who is a longtime fan of the Washington Commanders is eager to join the ownership group.
McConaughey has been close friends with Daniel Snyder. During the super bowl last year, McConaughey was reportedly on Snyder?s yacht. He clearly has strong ties with Washington?s NFL franchise.
According to reports, the team could be sold for $7 billion. Kevin Durant made a statement while talking to ESPN. He said, ?In a perfect world, I would be a part of it. I would love to do it. I would love to give a little bit of my money to be a part of the Commanders, but we?ll see. Hopefully, it?s somebody nice. I heard [Amazon CEO Jeff] Bezos and Jay-Z, but you never know.?
Kevin Durant was surprised to hear that Daniel Snyder, the current owner of the Washington Commanders was on the verge of selling the team. Snyder has been part of an ongoing investigation that has forced him to sell the team. Even though fans were excited to see McConaughey show interest, there seemed to be some mixed reactions.
Bezos could buy the team by himself with the change in between his couch cushions…

I am very confused by Bezos looking to involve these lower net worth folks. If they liquidate everything they have, Jay Z has $1.3 billion and McConaughey $160 million. Again, that’s their net worth. Odds are they put in like 10% of their net worth. That’d be $130m & $16m. 2.25%

Fans seemed confused as to why Jeff Bezos needed other partners to take over the team. One fan tweeted, “Bezos could buy the team by himself with the change in between his couch cushions.” Another fan commented, “McConaughey is the GOAT. This would be amazing.”
