Matt Damon Narrates Hilarious Viola Davis Story on Fulfilling Michael Jordan?s Wishes: ?She Doesn?t Remember That..It Was Too Much Responsibility?

Ben Affleck’s?Air hit screens in the country on April 5? and shortly after its release, it drew a myriad of appreciation from critics and movie buffs. He personally met with NBA legend Michael Jordan for his permission to make the film as the story revolves around him. During their meeting, MJ gave a couple of suggestions, including recommending Viola Davis’ name to play his mother, Deloris Jordan’s role. Academy Award-winner Matt Damon recently shared a humorous story that reveals her reaction after acknowledging Jordan’s wish.

Ben Affleck, Chris Tucker, Matt Damon, and Viola Davis play pivotal roles in the film. The movie focuses on Sonny Vaccaro, and Nike convincing rookie Jordan and joining hands with him, which ultimately revolutionized the sneaker industry.

Viola Davis felt playing the role of Michael Jordan’s mother was too much responsibility

Damon recently joined Rich Eisen on his show,?The Rich Eisen Show, and spoke about a plethora of intriguing things. During the show, he talked about how the NBA legend wanted to have Davis in the film during his meeting with Affleck. Moreover, he added that MJ’s wish prompted him to say, “You got to get Viola Davis, dude, that’s like saying you want Michael Jordan on your basketball team…She’s an American treasure.”?In light of this, Eisen asked him whether he or Affleck told her that she was Jordan’s choice to play the role of his mother.

Damon responded by saying, “I think Ben[Affleck] told her that. She says ‘she doesn’t remember that’.” He added, “Because I think she blocked it out she said ‘it was too much responsibility.'”?

Following this revelation, both of them burst out laughing. After the laughter subsided, the 52-year-old actor went on to shower adulations on Davis.

Davis, in fact, is one of the premier actors in the country. She has acted in a lot of critically acclaimed movies including The Help?and?Fences. The 57-year-old is also one of the few that have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony, making her an EGOT. Her performance in Air shows why she is the recipient of so many awards.

In the same show, while revealing what Jordan said to Affleck during their meeting, Damon said, “Ben was really moved by the way he[Jordan] talked about his mother…what an impact and what a powerful force she was in his life.” Deloris showed the Chicago Bulls legend the right path and helped him to become what he is today. Incidentally, the six-time NBA champion might have never earned millions and signed with Nike if his mother was not there at the right time.
