The Big Diesel recently revealed the real reason he still actively pursues music.
Early in the 1990s, Shaq made his musical breakthrough with the successful launch of “Shaq Diesel,” his debut album. From there, the Los Angeles Lakers icon continued to experiment with other musical genres, producing a number of albums and appearing as “DJ Diesel” at various concerts and events. In a recent interview with Clinton Sparks, Shaquille O’Neal got candid about his love for music. DJ Diesel has been in the music scene, since 1988, during his college years. He reveals how, for him, it wasn’t about the money.
Shaq told sparks, “These kids be going crazy. You’ll be having a great time, that’s what I like doing. And again because look, I lose money every time I deejay, trust me.”
“But it’s about I need that adrenaline boost again. When I come out there and there’s 15 000 – 16 000 fans going up and down, that’s what I live for. That’s what I’ve been dealing with from 18 to 37 when I retire. And then you know when you don’t have that you look for that thing.”
“And so for me, it’s all about just going out there making those kids bang their head,” he added
DJ Diesel takes his role as an entertainer seriously. Be it on the court or the DJ booth, he gives it his all. According to his ideals, people pay their hard-earned money to see him perform, and it’s his responsibility to make their experience worthwhile.

The Los Angeles Lakers legend has missed out on several recent episodes of the program “Inside the NBA”. He is currently hospitalized and recovering from hip replacement surgery. The surgery was a planned procedure and he recently tweeted a picture of himself lying on a hospital bed.
Several fans were concerned about Shaq’s health following his tweet. However, Shaq came back online the next day to explain why he had been admitted to the hospital. In a subsequent tweet, he expressed gratitude to everyone who had expressed worry and concern, while also joking that he needed to complete some BBL work. He quickly clarified that this was a joke and that he had, in fact, had a hip replacement.
