Magic Johnson, Who Had “Beautiful Girls” in His Party, Was Shocked to See Now Wife Cookie Storm the Scene in 1985

Magic and Cookie Johnson may be one of the most long-lasting couples that Hollywood might have witnessed. The businesswoman and NBA star have been dating on and off for more than 40 years and have two children together. But their journey was not so easy, and like every other couple, they too had their ups and downs. One story of their relationship caught the eyes of another Los Angeles Lakers legend, Michael Cooper. The 5-time Championship winner revealed how he saw Magic startled by Cookie’s arrival at Johnson’s 26th birthday party.

When Johnson debuted for the Lakers, he experienced one of the most drastic changes in his lifestyle. Naturally, he had a tough time adjusting to the change. Nevertheless, Johnson lived his life to the fullest in the 80s. Soon, however, the Lakers captain, who had no other addictions, developed an addiction to women. This addiction probably curtailed him from inviting his wife to his birthday party.

Magic Johnson shocked at Cookie’s arrival

In the docu-series, ‘They Call Me Magic,’ the Lakers legend revealed that there were many “beautiful girls” at Johnson’s birthday party except his wife. This might have surprised Cooper a bit. Considering this, Cooper asked Johnson, “Earv, why don’t you have cookie out?” Magic replied, “Coop, she’s allowing me to be me, but that’s where my heart is.”

However, Cookie had been invited to the birthday party by Magic’s sister, Pearl Johnson. Pearl stated the reason behind her invitation. She said, “I mean he’s my brother. So I just had to make sure that he’s with someone who cares about him and loves him. So I invited her to the party.”

However, Magic was not privy to this invitation from his sister to his wife. Johnson was baffled by Cookie’s arrival at the party. Cookie stated, Magic upon seeing her said, “What are you doing here? How did you even get here?” 

His statement clearly indicated that he was thoroughly shocked to see Cookie at the birthday party.
