Michael Jordan dominated the game and opposing teams often had no answer. However, one team that did come up with a solution to slow down Jordan and his high-flying antics on the floor was the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons came up with the Jordan Rules’?in order to stop MJ from taking over the game. But a recent revelation from Pistons legend Isiah Thomas revealed how the league protected Jordan in order to get the most out of it.?

There is no doubt that the things Michael Jordan was able to do on the court left fans with their jaws dropped on the floor. But the Pistons, or the ?Bad Boy? Pistons, had come up with some tactics to slow him down.?

Isiah Thomas explains how the league protected Michael Jordan

In an interview with ?The Pivot Podcast,? Isaiah Thomas said that the league at the time changed certain rules in order to protect Jordan so that he could have those high-flying dunks that became synonymous with Jordan and the Bulls at the time.

Thomas claimed all this was done in order to market his slam dunks and generate more revenue from him. He said, ?Y?all changed all the rules so he can win.? Thomas added, ?Everybody getting hit. ‘Oh, but he can?t get hit?’ So we gonna change all the rules so he can dunk, because they marketing the dunk.?

Thomas drew a comparison between Jordan?s dunks and Stephen Curry?s long-range shooting. He mentioned, ?Now you can jump all up in the air and do a 360 and everything, and everybody be like, ‘Yeah that?s cool’. But that Steph Curry, go shoot that three, that?s what we marketing now.??

Thomas described how it made him and the team feel. He finally added, ?So, the Bad Boys, we ain?t gonna let you dunk. Go on and take your two free throws.? The Pistons legend mentioned how the league could not sell that. ?So now, did it make us mad? Did it make me mad? No, it made me want to beat you more.?

IT was arguably as competitive as they can get. He may have been a sweet guy off the floor but he undoubtedly was a stone-cold killer on the court. The 12-time All-Star once even played a game with an injured ankle, and he still managed to score 25 points in one quarter.?

Clearly, there is still some bad blood between him and MJ that he hasn?t been able to let go of.?
