Scottie Pippen continued to hunt for championships despite winning six rings with the Chicago Bulls. The six-time NBA champ joined hands with the Portland Trail Blazers from 1999-2003 in an attempt to win more. During the 1999-2000 season, Pippen’s Trail Blazers went up against his former coach Phil Jackson. Jackson had joined the Los Angeles Lakers after his successful term with the Bulls while Denis Rodman and Michael Jordan had also moved on from the franchise. While talking about his Western Conference semi-final battle with the Lakers, Scottie Pippen named a former Pistons Star as the predecessor of Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.

Scottie Pippen once talked about his experience leading the Portland Trail Blazers in his 2021 book?‘Undisputed’. During his first season at Portland, Pippen managed to take his team to the Western Conference Finals where they faced Phil Jackson’s Lakers.

Pippen was ready to take on the former Bulls coach with the knowledge of his strategies and game plans. The seven-time All-Star could pick up on Jackson’s trick but nobody could make up for the dominance of Shaquille O’Neal.?

As a result, the Lakers beat Scottie Pippen’s Trail Blazers by 109-94 in Game 1. Shaq scored 41 points during the game while Pippen had 19 points and 11 rebounds. However, Pippen was most disappointed about one thing from the game.

Scottie Pippen hails high praises for former Pistons star

Scottie Pippen shared that he rated former Detroit Pistons star, Rasheed Wallace, quite highly. The Bulls legend also claimed that Wallace possessed the skills of Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.

Meanwhile, Pippen stated that he was highly disappointed in Wallace who was Portland’s best player. Unfortunately, Rasheed Wallace had anger issues and was ejected during the third quarter after receiving a second technical from the refs.?

Despite Wallace’s problems with fouls, Scottie Pippen reckoned that the former Piston star could take on Dennis Rodman. Pippen said, “His one fault, and it was a big one, was he couldn’t control his anger. He made Dennis Rodman look like a boy scout.”

Pippen claimed that Rasheed ‘Wallace was the Kevin Durant of his day’?due to his high-percentage shot-making ability with both hands. In addition, he also praised the 2004 NBA champ’s three-point shooting abilities. Scottie Pippen stated, “He was one of the first bigs to run the three-point line. He could make it from Steph Curry range.”

The Bulls legend seemed to be highly impressed by Wallace’s abilities as he felt Rasheed had the abilities of Curry and KD back in the day. Luckily for Pippen, Rasheed Wallace came through during game 2 with 29 points, 12 boards, and two steals to take the Pistons home to a dominating 106-77 victory against the Lakers.
