March Madness is about to come to a close as the Sweet 16 is over and teams are qualifying for the Final Four. This year’s NCAA Men’s and Women’s Division I Tournament gave both surprises and also kept fans on the edge of their seats. NBA legends are evidently fans first, as Shaquille O’Neal celebrated his college’s Women’s team breaking records and cementing their names in the history books.

The Lousiana State University women’s team defeated the Miami Hurricanes in their last matchup. The Dolphins became an instant fan favorite when they pulled off an upset by defeating the Indiana Hoosiers on a game-winning shot. With likely heroes collapsing and expectations being turned over, March truly is mad.

The Hurricanes’ glory was short-lived as LSU arrived at the game locked in and defeated them with a final score of 54-42. The number three-seeded LSU women’s team took no chances while playing the Miami Hurricanes. A fair share of credit goes to the head coach of the LSU Tigers, Kim Mulkey. As the head coach of the Tigers, Mulkey managed to bring the women’s team to their sixth women’s Final-Four appearance.

The LSU Tigers will be making an appearance in the NCAA’s Final-Four Division I Women’s Tournament for the first time since 2008. A feat that impressed LSU alumnus, Shaquille O’Neal. The Los Angeles Lakers legend made sure to show his celebratory spirit by sharing a post on his Instagram stories. The 4-time NBA champion joined Louisana State University in 1989 before eventually being drafted in 1992, in one of the deepest drafts.

A quick recap of the game

The game between the LSU Tigers and the Miami Hurricanes seemed lob-sided. The Tigers managed to keep almost the entire Hurricanes team to single-digit scoring. Only Jasmyne Roberts of the Hurricanes managed to break the double-digit barrier with 22 points for the night.

As for the Tigers, Alexis Morris led the team in scoring with 21 points for the night. However, it was Angel Reese who was in the spotlight for the LSU Tigers. Reese had a record-breaking night against the Hurricanes.
