Although Jordan’s impact was widespread, as a young high-school player, he drew inspiration from Magic Johnson. The Lakers’ legend was instrumental in helping the NBA gain popularity due to his rivalry with Larry Bird. However, in 1991, Johnson would step away from the game due to a critical illness. Although this news came as a shock to the world, one person deeply affected by it was Jerry West. In a recent interview, West recounted how he felt when Johnson’s news broke out.
