The NBA Finals war lasted 6 games before the Golden State Warriors rose to the top against the Celtics. Winning their 4th championship in 8 seasons, they cemented their dynasty. For the Boston fans, heartbreak followed their loss at the TD Garden. After making the finals for the first time in 12 years, the city had high hopes.

In addition, their chance to become the most successful franchise went pouring down. However, on the flip side, their arch-rivals, the Lakers, celebrated the Bay winning as the two still stand equal at 17 titles. A former Finals MVP for the Lakers even took to Twitter to troll the Boston Celtics.

Now, with the Celtics dropping their chance to take over the Lakers, the greatest rivalry in NBA started a battle yet again. James Worthy went on Twitter to troll former Celtics Finals MVP Cedric Maxwell as Stephen Curry and the Warriors put his franchise to sleep.

James Worthy joins the party with Steph as the Celtics go down

Bringing the spark back to the Celtics-Lakers rivalry, James Worthy took the first shot. Right after the Celtics lost the NBA finals, Worthy took a picture with Steph on the TV and rubbed it in. Celebrating the Warriors’ triumph, Worthy was more than a happy customer. Being a Laker in and out, every Celtics downfall gives him joy. And a tough loss in the NBA finals did not draw any mercy from Worthy.

With the Celtics’ back against the walls, Maxwell was really confident in his team. With a record of 7-1 after suffering a loss in the postseason, Boston had made a reputation to come back. And Maxwell showed full faith. He said, “I mean this is a team that has bounced back every time we’ve thought that they were dead, they’ve got up. They were like Dracula, man. They’re going to get up and they’re going to rise again.”

However, to the delight of the Worthy and the Lakers, the Celtics couldn’t get the job done. In addition, the Warriors only became the second team to close out the finals in Boston. So who did it before? Yes, back in 1985, the Lakers became the only team to beat the Celtics at their own house. However, despite remaining equal in titles, the Celtics have the head-to-head edge.
