The NBA season has come up with many surprises so far. However, the biggest has to be of the Los Angeles Lakers’ performances. Things have clearly not gone their way as injuries have adversely affected their development. Meanwhile, some updates on LeBron James and Anthony Davis’ status for the Hornets game have also come out.
The Lakers are coming off an embarrassing defeat to the Portland Trail Blazers. While luck wasn’t on their side as Anthony Davis went off early, their performance was not up to par. None of the starters managed to rack up double digit points against Portland and the defensive problems hurt them even more.

LeBron James and Davis being such integral part of this side, it’s no surprise to see the Lakers struggle without them. So will they be there for the team in their next game?
The health status of the star duo
The Lakers became a hub for criticism after their loss to the Trail Blazers. Especially Russell Westbrook, who struggled to deliver, received immense wrath. Russ couldn’t get it going on any end as he closed the game with just 8 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists while shooting just 1-13 from the field. Moreover, he also had 6 turnovers.
The purple and gold were doomed after Anthony Davis exited action in the first quarter and did not return. Similar to LeBron, AD suffered some abdomen problems that kept him out for that game. However, it seems that isn’t the problem anymore as his right thumb sprain is the only listed injury.
Lakers’ injury report for tomorrow vs. Charlotte:
— Anthony Davis (right thumb sprain) and Sekou Doumbouya and Jay Huff (two-way contracts) are questionable.
— LeBron James, Talen Horton-Tucker, Trevor Ariza and Kendrick Nunn are out.— Jovan Buha (@jovanbuha) November 7, 2021
Coming to their playing status, their presence is a make or break for the Lake show. Unsurprisingly, LeBron James remains to be out as he is suffering from abdomen discomfort after aggravating his ab injury. He will most likely be out for another few games. For Anthony Davis, he is questionable for the game against the Charlotte Hornets.

The Lakers won’t want to take any chances on their stars after looking at last season. But how will this affect the Lake Show in the time being?
Lakers in for a big challenge
The Lakers have a tough schedule ahead going up against the Hornets and Miami Heat. Both these teams have been hot and are on their best. With AD and LeBron James missing, there are going to be some major struggles for the purple and gold.

Early season form is crucial for any franchise, especially the Lakers who are still a very new unit (in terms of signings). Russell Westbrook needs to be the sole star and guide this team until the end. He can’t afford to play like he did against the Trail Blazers if they hope to win. Other players will get a much bigger role if AD misses out as well.
