Recently, millionaire producer and podcaster Elijah Schaffer took to Twitter to voice his opinions. He posted a video of a famous interview involving Viktor Bout in which he talks about his feelings for the USA. Schaffer suggested that Bout is much more American than Griner, who has been questioned regarding her faithfulness in the past.

Popular podcaster bashes the Brittney Griner swap deal on Twitter

Controversial WNBA star Brittney Griner has been one of the most talked about personalities this year. She was arrested in February and sentenced to nine years in prison following drug charges.

While all hope was lost for her family and Griner faced her eventual future at the IK-2 penal colony, officials negotiated a prisoner swap deal to bring her back. The deal was in talks for quite some time and faced a lot of flak from people around the world.

Griner was released by Russia in return for Viktor Bout, who is nicknamed the ‘Merchant of Death’. Popular podcaster Elijah Schaffer didn’t seem happy with this deal. He took to Twitter to voice his opinion and posted a video that involves Bout.

In the video, Bout is interviewed and asked about whether he hates America. He simply said, “No.” Moreover, he also further explained how Russia and America have much in common.

Schaffer wrote, “You know things are bad when: The “Lord of War” we traded loves America more than Brittney Griner does”. Griner’s faithfulness towards her country has been questioned multiple times in the past. Despite winning two Gold Medals for the USA, her stance on controversial issues has urged people to question her nationality.

Griner’s past comments resurfaced while she was in prison

All the while Brittney Griner was in prison, various actions from her past resurfaced and were criticized by the media and fans alike. Her stance on the National Anthem was one of the major talking points as to why she should complete her time in Russia.

When protests gripped the country and the basketball leagues, she suggested the National Anthem not be played before games, according to Yahoo News. This came after the Breonna Taylor incident and the Black Lives Matter movement.

Although she made such controversial claims, the seven-time WNBA All-Star asserted that she meant no disrespect. Moreover, she also revealed that her father had served in Vietnam and that she has always looked up to him.
