The Los Angeles Lakers have had a tough start to the season. Their main problem has been their shooting or the lack of it. The Lakers started off the season as the worst shooting team in NBA history. And a wild stat that quantified the actual extent of LeBron James and crew’s performance has the NBA world in shambles.

The Lakers started off their season by losing five straight games. In those losses, it was very clear that the problem with the Lakers was their shooting. They missed wide-open shots over and over again. Moreover, they took a bunch of ill-advised shots.

But the stats of their stars seem to be the most worrying thing for the Lakers. After eight games into the season, the Lakers’ three stars, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook, are all shooting less than 35% on jump shots.

Surprisingly, it is Russell Westbrook who has been the best of the three so far, as he leads the way with 33,3 %. Anthony Davis holds the second-best record of the lot with 26%, while LeBron has been making only 25.9% of his jump shots.

The Lakers might have started out 2-6, but they do have some positives to look forward to, especially on the defensive end. The team is ranked top 5 for their defensive rating. In fact, the LA team tends to be very aggressive on that side of the court. Their defense has kept them somewhat competitive during this stretch.

Another positive for the Lakers has been Russell Westbrook. After a terrible start to the season, Westbrook agreed to come off the bench. And so far, the move has been successful. He has been a huge boost off the bench. Moreover, he brings a spark of energy to the team. His stats have also improved massively, and the 2017 MVP seems to be enjoying the move so far.

If the Lakers can fix their shooting woes and LeBron and AD return to their best, they will be a tough team to beat. But they will need to figure it out soon as the West looks incredibly competitive this year.
