Klay Thompson has been at the Warriors since the start of his career. The Golden State Warriors drafted Klay as their 11th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. He took some time to settle in the team and make his place, as all eyes were on Stephen Curry. But eventually, he became a vital part of the Warriors set up.

In their title runs of 2015, 2017, and 2018, Klay was an important figure in the roster for the Golden State Warriors. Along with Curry, Klay established himself as one of the best shooters of this generation. Many believe his shooting form is actually perfect. With his importance being proven in his team, it was truly important for the Warriors that he resigned the contract that ended in 2019. Especially when in a few months they saw Kevin Durant leaving. Klay signed the contract extension and announced it in style.

Thompson posted a video to announce to the fans, “I am not f****** leaving. The show goes on. This is my home.” Well, he himself did not say those words, but his “mood” was the same as Leonardo DiCaprio’s character in The Wolf of Wall Street. Klay posted a scene from the 2013 blockbuster movie, in which Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo, announces that he will be staying at the company in the movie.

The 2013 blockbuster was the story of Jordan Belfort, an investment trader who wrote his autobiography after coming out of jail. Leonardo DiCaprio displayed a tremendous acting performance but did not win an Oscar for the movie. He would have certainly felt good if he had seen Klay announcing him, signing a new contract, and staying at the Warriors with the snippet of his movie.

Ever since his renewal and KD’s departure, Klay had to wait to come back to full fitness to make an impact and prove his worth all over again. After sustaining an injury in the playoffs of the 2017-18 season, he had to go through two and half years without playing for the Dubs. It was indeed a difficult time for him. Recovering from a knee injury and the Achilles injury. He could not feature for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.

Clearly, Golden State missed their Splash Bro as they failed to qualify for the playoffs for two consecutive seasons. Injury ridden and in the middle of the pandemic, Warriors struggled massively. Finishing the 2019-20 season shockingly as the last seed. Then finishing 9th in 2020-21 and failing to qualify for the playoffs.

Klay came back to full fitness halfway through this season. In 34 games played, he averaged 20.4 points in the regular season. In the playoffs, he is averaging 19.8 points. The Warriors are back at the top and are playing their 6th final in 8 years. They are currently 1-0 down against the Boston Celtics. They would certainly need Thompson to play his best basketball in the remainder of the series along with the rest of the team playing as a unit like they do at their best.
