The 2022 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and France on December 18 had everyone glued to their seats throughout the tense game. People anticipating who will win the World Cup had half hoping France would win it back-to-back and the other half hoping that Messi would finally lift the World Cup trophy. And by the end of it, the result had almost everyone in joy as Lionel Messi finally got that one accolade that eluded him throughout his glittering career.?

Recently, on an episode of ?The Steam Room,? Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson talked about the FIFA World Cup and how it ended. Barkley, even though he admittedly did not have much knowledge of the sport, too had his eyes glued to the screen.

Charles Barkley chose a throwback LeBron James performance

He admitted that the FIFA World Cup final between France and Argentina was by far the most exciting sporting event he had witnessed over the years. However, Barkley did bring up a couple of games from the NFL that came close.

And he only mentioned one game that took place in the NBA that he believed even came close to the excitement he felt as compared to the FIFA World Cup final. And it was an old playoff game that was arguably one of the most spectacular performances from LeBron James.

It was the Eastern Conference Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Detroit Pistons way back in 2007. Furthermore, that was truly one of the most exciting and exhilarating performances from ‘King James’.?

Barkley went on to name a couple of more games that took place in recent years. However, that playoff performance from LeBron James could possibly triumph over the rest of the matchups that Chuck mentioned.?

In the Eastern Conference Finals, the Cavaliers eventually got the upper hand over the Pistons, who were stacked with great players. And it was in Game 5 when a 22-year-old LeBron James put up arguably one of the best performances of his career.?

He ended up scoring the last 25 points for the Cavs against the Pistons. James managed to tie the game on two separate occasions. That led to the game going into double overtime with James going on to hit the game-winning layup as well in the end.
