However, in his recent contest against LeBron James, Lillard experienced a rare off night. Dame struggled to get his shots to fall, which was much due to the primary defender, Patrick Beverley. During his recent podcast, he revealed the conversation they had during a heated exchange during the game. In addition, he also apologized to several other NBA teams.

In a fight to keep the season alive, LeBron James and the Lakers rallied to beat Portland. Notably, the fight seemed to be a walkthrough for Lillard and Co. who were up 25 at the half. However, the Purple and Gold responded to the challenge with huge nights by the King and Thomas Bryant. After putting the clamps on Lillard, Beverley openly mocked his iconic ‘Dame Time’ celebration.

Patrick Beverley addresses his beef with Damian Lillard in a recent Lakers-Blazers matchup

While on his podcast, the Lakers guard jumped right onto the elephant in the room. Beverley demanded to get the topic over with quickly. Speaking about his taunt during the game, he directed attention toward some prior events. Notably, the 34-year-old said Lillard and he shared no conversation before their exchange on the floor. In his eyes, Dame waited for a moment to humiliate him. Beverley said, “You wait till you get in front of 20,000 people to say you could whoop my a**?”

Likewise, his watch celebration after an emphatic win was Beverley’s way to respond. However, he also handed out an apology as since the moment, Damian Lillard has been on fire. The Lakers star said on The Pat Bev podcast, “I feel sorry though cause he’s been f**king teams up after that. He’s been giving motherf***ers 60. I feel bad, teams like ‘Pat shut the f**k up man he taking that s**t out on us.”

Dame has turned into a scoring machine since his disappointing night against LA. The 32-year-old has scored over 40 points in four of his last eight games. Notably, just two games later, the 2023 All-Star exploded for 60 points against the Utah Jazz shooting a historic 72%. In February, Damian Lillard is in midst of a sublime scoring stretch averaging nearly 35 a night in February.
