The Los Angeles Lakers have still not made any big off-season moves. After a disappointing last year, many expected them to revamp their roster around LeBron James. But so far, nothing substantial has materialized and the Lakers are still trying to figure it out. However, one NBA executive believes that the Lakers could trade LeBron’s veteran teammate to the Chicago Bulls. In exchange for a long-time trade target.

Chicago Bulls superstar Zach LaVine has been a target for the Lakers for some time now. He started as a young star with huge potential. And he has arguably developed into one of the league’s best players. LaVine has been an All-Star in the last two seasons and he recently signed a five-year max deal with the Bulls. And he is not expected to leave anytime soon.

However, when a player like Anthony Davis is offered, it is hard to say no. And that is what this NBA executive believes it will take to get Zach LaVine to the Lakers.

Anthony Davis may leave LeBron James and the Lakers to go back home

On his day, there is no doubt that Anthony Davis is one of the best players in the league. But his availability and durability are always seemingly in doubt. Over the last two years, Davis has played in only 76 games. LaVine suffered an ACL injury in 2017, but he seems to have recovered from that. And he has become one of the league’s best offensive threats.

When a reporter spoke to the executive, he said that the trade will happen only if Davis wants to go somewhere and leave the Lakers. With Davis being a Chicago native, a return home may be an appealing prospect for the eight-time All-Star.

He also added,” There could be something simple like Zach LaVine for A.D., you get a pair of guys going to places they really want to be. It would have to wait until January, but that would be the deal that makes the most sense if A.D. is going to change teams.”?

While this deal seems unlikely at the moment, stranger things have happened in the NBA before. The Los Angeles Lakers are hesitant to trade Davis as he and LeBron James were one of the league’s best duos in 2020, winning a championship along the way. So it would possibly be unwise not to give the duo another shot, especially if they are both healthy.

The Lakers will also need to figure out how to deal with Russell Westbrook. Whether by trade or by keeping him, the Lakers will need to find an answer. Otherwise, they may have to take some drastic measures which may cause LeBron?James to lose his teammate as the Lakers look to bounce back from a dissapointing last season.
