LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are very close to missing the play-in tournament. After Friday’s loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, the Lakers are now three games behind them and are a full game behind the San Antonio Spurs. And with only 5 games remaining, the Lakers look very close to being done.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis both made their return to the lineup, but that wasn’t enough as the Lakers lost 114-111 in a very close game. LeBron had a chance to tie the game, but he missed the game-tying three. He ended with 38 points, but that wasn’t enough as the Lakers lost their fifth game in a row. They will have to pull off a miracle in the next few games if they want to make the play-in tournament.

The Lakers are in danger of missing the play-in tournament

Everyone knew that the Lakers were not a good enough team to make the playoffs, but no one would have thought that they would miss the play-in tournament. And a few weeks ago, that looked impossible.

But the Lakers kept on losing games and the Spurs and Pelicans kept winning crucial games, which allowed them to gain ground. While the Spurs were not consistent enough, the Pelicans seized the opportunity and they now have a three-game lead over the Lakers.

The Lakers have five games left and they do not have an easy schedule. They have to play the Nuggets (twice), Suns, Warriors, and Thunder. Three of these teams are above the Lakers and have beaten them already this season.

With the Nuggets and Warriors battling for a playoff seeding, they will also play as hard as possible. The Lakers will need to be at their best if they have any chance of making the play-ins.
