Whether it is an incident on the basketball court or off the court, Shaquille O’Neal never shies away from voicing his opinion. This time it is for a fellow Laker, LeBron James. A few days ago, news hit the NBA world that LeBron might be considering owning a team based in Las Vegas.
When asked about his views regarding the same in The Big Shaq Podcast, O’Neal had a lot to say. He said, “That’s good for him. I wish him well. I’ve been with LeBron since he was eighteen. I am never down to talk with LeBron because a lot of people you know just jump onto it for no reason.”
Shaq added,” The world we live in, we look at numbers. He has passed Mike, he has passed the great Kobe, there are two people left to pass. He plays well, never gets into trouble, I got nothing to say. I wish him well.”

As a person who played with LeBron during his initial years in the Cleveland Cavaliers, Shaq only had good wishes for James’ potential venture.
Will a new NBA team be added?
The league suffered losses during the pandemic and has been trying to recover them since. One of the best ways to increase overall revenue is the addition of more teams. Moreover, there have been talks regarding expansion for some time now. The two chosen cities are Seattle and Las Vegas.

When asked about the plans of expansion by a journalist, NBA commissioner Adam Silver replied, “No doubt Vegas will be on the list.”
Leagues like the NFL and NHL have had successes with an expansion in the city of Vegas and it is only a matter of time before the city gets represented in the NBA as well. With a superstar like LeBron James willing to assume ownership, the venture can only be successful.
