LeBron James is among the greats to have embraced the game of basketball. The King has created one of the greatest legacies in any sport owing to his sheer strength and all-around brilliance on the court.

Throughout his long and successful career, James has won a boatload of honors and recognition. Next season will be James’ 20th season as an NBA player. He is still expected to produce at an exceptional level since he has exemplified longevity throughout his career. He has pretty much accomplished everything in the beautiful game; however, that doesn’t mean that he is beyond regret.

James has passed on his savvy on-court skills to his eldest son, Bronny James. However, there is one thing he wishes he hadn’t passed on.

LeBron James spoke about his son on an August 2018 episode of his famous show “The Shop.” He mentioned his son playing baseball. James then went on to share one of his regrets: naming his eldest son after him.

“I still regret giving my 14-year-old my name,” the player remarked, referring to the pressure Bronny has had as a byproduct of LeBron being his father.

He then went on to explain why he gave his son his name. “When I was younger, I didn’t have a dad,” James said. “So my whole thing was when I have a kid, not only is he gonna be a junior, I’m gonna do everything that this man didn’t do. They’re gonna experience things that I didn’t experience.”

Bronny has grown up in the shadow of one of the game’s legends, thus the bar is set high for him. He has shown promise, although he is nowhere near his father’s ability. The recent national recruitment rankings simply added weight to that assertion.

LeBron James saw his son suffer a big fall in the latest high school rankings

Bronny was touted as one of the most promising young players of the 2023 class. However, this does not appear to be the case anymore. LeBron will be pleased to see his son improving on a regular basis. Bronny’s considerable dip in the latest national recruitment rankings, on the other hand, will dismay him.

Bronny was formerly ranked 29th in his class; however, a massive drop in ranking saw him plummet to number 60. While being ranked 60 in the entire nation is a major achievement, a downward slide of 31 ranks doesn’t paint a good picture.
